I’ve heard that dogs require much more care and attention than cats, especially a big-sized dog like a golden retriever. My friends who own big dogs tell me that to keep a golden retriever, you need to comb its fur every day, take it out for a walk at least 10 hours per week and carefully choose food for it at different phases. 　　My fondness for golden retrievers is affected by the mass media. TV dramas always depict them as lifesavers. And like other dogs, if you treat them well, they will repay you tens or hundreds of times. Also a documentary about dogs states that golden retrievers are among the brightest of dogs. Besides being loyal and smart, they’re such a good-looking creature! They have big round eyes and a tall nose. Their soft, long and shinning gold fur makes you want to cuddle them. 　　I think a golden retriever makes the best companion for humans. One day when I would leave home and live by myself, I would feel more secure and less lonely if I had this big buddy as my companion. And when I start my own family in the future, a golden retriever will be nice to my kids. I don’t mind the trouble of taking care of it. Instead, I think this is the reward of keeping a pet. It helps the owner build a sense of responsibility. After all, once we keep a pet, we must devote our best effort to it.
