Some people, therefore, are worried that travelling will become unpopular or even obsolete some day. But I strongly believe that this kind of argument is not well grounded and travelling will not be replaced by TV watching or Internet surfing. To begin with, travelling is all about seeing something real. As an old saying goes: to see is to believe. Here, "to see" means you are there to see something by your own eyes and experience the true feeling of interfacing with it. Travelling makes you situated in certain place, thus arouses your sense of full enjoyment. Tourists are indulged in the attracting scenes as well as the process of travelling. They go into the world of local people, and they not only see, but also touch, smell, taste and feel the local culture. TV programs and web content can certainly show you the images of a place, but those are the images brought through other people’s description or camera-shooting. The images in virtualized world can only please your eyes for a while, and you do not have real mental interaction with them. Secondly, people get mental relaxation through travelling. Usually travelling will cost more than one day, so people can get rid of daily work and household chores which are the sources of mental stress. Playing and having fun are the themes of travelling. No matter it is in a sunshine beach or an exotic town, people breathe free air and get relaxed to a full extent. This cannot be achieved by just sitting home watching TV or browsing websites. Thirdly, travelling enriches people’s personal experience and brings closer the relationship among travellers. If you travel alone, it is very likely that you meet interesting people and have new friends. The whole process makes you happy and colors your life. If you travel with family members or friends, you enjoy happy time with them, thus the travelling becomes your common happy memory, which will become one of the biggest treasures in life later on. In this regard, TV programs and net pictures are just dry contents, and will not add any value to your personal life. In conclusion, television and the Internet connection will not kill tourism, and on the contrary they will assist tourism development and tourism will prosper.
