答案 As is depicted in the picture, a nervous senior lady, with a confused and helpless look on her face, is using a computer with a frown. What this picture tries to convey is the senior’s anxiety towards the rapid development of technology. Reasons accounting for this phenomenon are various. For one thing, the elderly gradually lose confidence in learning new things since their memory no longer serves them well. For another, children of some elderly people lack patience in teaching them how to use modern technological facilities. Hence, the young’s impatience and detestation discourage the grey’s enthusiasm even more. Elders’ anxiety about technological products not only affects their own quality of life, but also adds burdens to their children. Therefore, some measures are needed to help the elder. First and foremost, the aged should hold a belief that it is never too old to learn and thus keep an insatiable desire for new things. What’s more, the young must be patient in helping the elders gain confidence and enthusiasm. Finally, more technology popularization activities should also be launched to familiarize elderly people with modern products. It sounds like climate scientists are talking about the claims of climate deniers. But this time they are talking about a 23 July discussion paper by James Hansen, one of the most respected climate scientists.
