No one can deny the fact that it’s the government’s responsibility to provide high quality health care for people, the investment in which can not only benefit people’s health, but also improve their quality of life. However, some people contend that there are many other important sectors that the government should attach importance to, such as the construction of infrastructure, education and environmental protection. I am opposed to the idea that the government should give priority to health care. As for me, it is one of the welfare benefits, but not the most important one. In the first place, to invest more in agriculture and industry so as to keep the people fed and clothed should be the first priority of any undeveloped country. Furthermore, among the most pressing problems, education is as important as health care. Therefore, great efforts should be made to enhance education. Last but not least, environmental protection has become a global issue. Apart from boosting economic development, the government should also take measures to solve environmental problems. There is no denying that health care is important for the physical and mental well-being of the people. However, there are many other factors that play a crucial role in a country’s economic development. What the government should do is to allocate money wisely and make a balance between different public investments.
