More than two weeks after the rerun presidential election, Viktor Yushchenko has finally been declared the winner. The opposition leader polled almost 52% of the vote. The central election commission made the official announcement after all complaints about the ballot were investigated. The losing presidential candidate Viktor Yanukovych has vowed to challenge the result in the Supreme Court. But the former Prime Minister has admitted that he is not optimistic about the outcome.
