Under the compensation system, a passenger who is denied boarding on an overbooked flight is entitled to choose between reimbursement without penalty of the cost of the ticket for the journey not made, rerouting to his final destination at the earliest opportunity, and rerouting at a later date at the passenger’s convenience. The passenger is also entitled to immediate payment by the air carrier of minimum financial compensation.
In any event, this compensation may not exceed the price of the ticket to the final destination.
