If you’re employed in the field of business, there is something you have likely experienced before: the feeling of helplessness and stress as deadlines pass and work piles up. For many, it seems like an endless battle. After all, there are only so many hours in a day. Thankfully, there is a way to make the most out of your time. Here are some tips from successful executives who have learned to manage their schedules and be more productive.
1. Plan ahead
Time management is less about managing time and more about managing activities. Assign "things to do" to specific times of the day, days of the week, months of the year, and so on. In addition, assign deadlines to each task or project, but set them at least two days ahead of the actual due dates so you will always be on time.
2. Prioritize tasks
If you have too much work, try to complete the most important tasks and projects early in the morning to avoid being overwhelmed with work later in the day. Too often throughout a day, other obligations and responsibilities creep in and distract you from your work.
3. Take notes
Keep a notebook handy to record something you have neglected to include in your schedule, or to write down ideas. Otherwise, it becomes increasingly difficult to stay focused on the tasks before you.
4. Put everything in its place
At home, in the car, and especially at work, minimize distractions by maintaining orderly surroundings. Keep frequently used items within reach, but store everything else in drawers and cabinets.
5. Reward yourself
Motivate yourself to finish tasks by rewarding major accomplishments. Depending on the nature of a completed task, your reward can be as simple as giving yourself a break to enjoy a leisurely activity.
What does the information suggest people with excessive workloads do?
选项
A、Outsource some of the workload
B、Hire a professional assistant
C、Go to the workplace early
D、Rate the importance of tasks
答案
D
解析
本题是问文章中建议工作量过大的人做什么(What),因此应定位至原文中提及题目的核心语句people with excessive workloads的相关内容。文中提到“2.Prioritize tasks,If you have too much work, try to complete the most important tasks and projects early in the morning…”,即先将事情按照优先顺序排好,如果工作量过大,则应该将最重要的工作和项目提早完成,因此(D)Rate the importance of tasks是正确答案。
