答案 Modifying the Family-planning Policy Better Adjusts the society Family-planning policy has been implemented for 35 years since 1978, and it brings numerous benefits to us. But every coin has two sides, it at the same time brings us a big problem—the aging of the population. The phenomenon of aging population results in a heated discussion over family-planning policy. Some think that the government should modify its family- planning policy, while others don’t think so. As for me, I give my vote to the former opinion. Nowadays, China is confronted with a prospect of labor shortage, so it is reasonable to modify the family-planning policy. Honestly speaking, the new generation of youth shoulder heavy burdens because of family-planning policy. On one hand, they need to nurture their children. On the other hand, they also have to support their parents and grandparents. According to a research, one couple needs to support about four old parents, even more. People live longer with the development of medical science and improvement of living standard. What will happen if we still stick to the original family-planning policy? More old men need to be taken care of by the only child 8, or even 12. As we know, it is extremely hard to find a well-paid job. So how can the only child support so many people? Hard to imagine. With the heavy burden of giving birth children came a new word. That is DINK, which concludes four words—double income no kids. DINK accelerates the aging process. Family-planning and DINK exacerbate labor shortage. Labor shortage is followed by economic recession. It is of great significance for the government to encourage fertility in low fertility areas. Policy should keep pace with the times. Modifying family-planning policy can increase the size of work-forces, stimulate economic development and make our society a better place.
