They are afraid that some pets such as snakes and crocodiles can be dangerous and put the owner or neighbors at risk. In my opinion, generally people do have the right to choose and own pets that touch their hearts. However, there are still animals that are illegal to be kept as private pets, especially those dangerous and endangered species that belong in the wild. So, before attempting to keep these animals, people should check with the local officials.
