   Now the most well-known mountain town on the northeast, Jiufen is famous for its long stone staircases with historical footprints, the sightseeing streets and local delicacies (美食) such as the yummu Taro Balls( Yu Yuen). Sheng ping theater, the only surviving (幸存的) historical theater built on the mountain, re-opened several years ago and quickly became a well-visited feature of Jiufen.
