How many ancient Greek statues were removed indoors?

Workers in Athens, Greece started on Saturday removing the six ancient Greek statues known as the Karyatids which hold up the temple dedicated to the goddess Athena on the Acropolis to take them indoors and save them from pollution. For 25 centuries the marble statues of maidens wearing long skirts, with their arms falling by their sides, have supported part of the structure called the Erechtheum. Time and pollution have eaten away at them, wearing away their features. And the decision has been taken to preserve them from further damage by keeping them in a specially-constructed air-conditioned museum on the Acropolis hill.
