答案 As to studying abroad, I believe one should think it over before finally making a decision. While it indeed offers precious opportunities for self-improvement, it also involves a lot of un- expected troubles. Admittedly, overseas study is fairly popular nowadays. College students, especially those who excel, rush to join in the cutthroat competition for the graduate courses of foreign universities. Pitifully, we tend to focus our attention exclusively on the positive side, regardless of the negative one. A moment’s calm reflection will make it clear that to plunge oneself into a different culture and try to keep up with the exotic atmosphere is by no means an easy job. First of all, there is the problem of language. A high mark in the TOEFL or GRE test does not guarantee your mastery of the language. Then there stands the obstacle of living habits. Western food, however popular in China, would turn out nauseating if they are swallowed down three times a day. It is foolish sometimes to be so frenetic about going abroad. Remember, no pains, no gains. And you always have to consider whether it is worthwhile anyway.
