答案
Nowadays, many people tend to spend more money on luxury commodities. It is reported that China has ranked as the second largest country on luxury consumption, surpassing the United States. As regards this phenomenon, there has been a heated discussion among people. Advocates take it for granted that people should spend more money to improve their living standards when they become richer. In addition, luxury consumption can help promote China’s domestic consumption, thus contributing to the financial revenue. However, other people hold an opposite viewpoint. These people, who value the traditional virtue of frugality, consider luxury consumption as a waste of money and they believe quite some luxury commodities are expensive but not practical. What’s more, they claim that those luxury goods buyers might as well spend more money upgrading themselves or doing some charity work. Personally speaking, I object to luxury consumption. As far as the quality of commodities is good enough and can meet our needs, it is not necessary to go crazy for luxury consumption. In my eyes, money spent on luxury commodities can be used to do something far more meaningful.
