To start career in a big city or a small town is a tough question, which every graduate would face when they start their careers. Some students stay in the big cities to start their careers after graduation. To them, a big city means having more opportunities to choose a better job, more chances to see the big world and more space for their career development. Meanwhile, high salary is another temptation, which can make their life happier and more comfortable. In addition, big cities can offer a favorable educational environment to their children and a good living condition to their parents. On the contrary, some other graduates start their careers in small towns. Even though there may not be many big companies and high salary, they can have a more peaceful and less competitive life. Another reason is that they can be big fishes in small ponds. So they can get the promotion easier and earlier. As far as I am concerned, I prefer to start career in a small town, because it is more suitable for me in terms of having good physical and psychological well-being. Firstly, living in a small town keeps me more healthy. It is known to us that the air pollution is quite severe in big cities because of the large number of cars. For example, in Beijing, citizens’ daily lives are usually disturbed by the foggy weather and sand storms. With the deteriorating air quality, people are more susceptible to lung disease and respiratory disease. Secondly, life in a small town is simple and easy. Unlike people in big cities, people in the small towns are away from the material pursuit and the hustle and bustle of city life. The simple life will make me feel content, which will ultimately benefit my mental health. All in all, different people have different opinions. For my part, I would like to start my career in a small town, which would benefit me a lot.
