Many years ago, Karl Benz developed a car, but before he could show it to the public, someone had to drive it. Berta Benz believed in the car, so she decided to drive it first, before her husband. Because she wanted to keep her plan secret. Berta told Karl that she and their two young sons were going to visit their grandmother. She didn’ t say how they were going to get there. They set off before it grew light so that Karl wouldn’ t see them. Although Berta didn’ t know how to drive, she kept the car on the road. When they reached a village, the car suddenly stopped. They pushed the car to the next town for some gas(汽油). After they left the town, the car stopped again, because a pipe(管子) was blocked.
While the two sons were discussing what to do, Berta took a long hair pin(发夹) and pushed it up the pipe. She decided that they must reach Pforzheim. As the noisy car with its three tired passengers finally arrived, Berta knew that she and her husband had shown the world how the cars of the future would look.
Why did Berta decide to drive the car?
选项
A、She thought the car was good.
B、She was asked by Karl to test the car.
C、She wanted to teach her kids to drive.
答案
A
解析
句意:为什么贝尔塔决定驾驶这辆汽车?细节题。从文章中第一段第二句“Berta Benz believed in the car,so she decided to drive it first.”可以推断出,原因是贝尔塔相信这辆车没有问题。故选A。
