"The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you ’ll go. " These simple-but-true words were written by Dr. Seuss in one of his 44 books.【B1】______
Theodor Seuss Geisel was born in 1904.【B2】______ He grew up in the town of Springfield, Massachusetts. When he was a small child, his mother would help him go to sleep with children’ s songs. Years later, Ted would go on to write some very famous songs of his own.
When he was at college, Ted began to write for a magazine. This was the first time he wrote under the name Seuss. Though not a real doctor, he would soon write only as Dr. Seuss.【B3】______ His drawings were published in many kinds of magazines.
In time, Ted wanted to both write and draw pictures for his own children’ s books. His first book had many drawings of some of the cars and people he knew from the streets of Springfield. It was difficult to get the book printed.【B4】______ It was turned down 27 times before it was finally published. Not long after, his book The Cat in the Hat became a huge success. It helped to make Dr. Seuss a well-known name in children’ s books.
Over the years, Ted wrote some of the best-loved children’ s books in the world. He won a Pulitzer Prize and many other prizes for his work.【B5】______ But his books and his songs are still well-known today. More than 200 million of his books are now in print in 15 languages.
[A] In 1991, he passed away.

[D] Ted had to be patient and keep trying.

【B4】
选项
答案
D
解析
根据第四段该空格前一句“It was difficult to get the book printed.”可知,出版这本书很难;而后一句“It was turned down 27 times before it was finally published.”又提到在第27次被拒之后终于出版了,可知空格处应该是讲苏斯很耐心而且一直在尝试。故D正确。
