Of all the components of a good night’s sleep, dreams seem
to be least within our control. In dreams, a window opens into a
world which logic is suspended and dead people speak. A century 【M1】______
ago, Freud formulated his revolutionary theory that dreams were
the disguising shadows of our unconscious desires and fears; by 【M2】______
the late 1970s, neurologists had switched to think of them as just 【M3】______
"mental noise" — the random byproducts of the neural-repair
work goes on during sleep. Now researchers suspect that dreams 【M4】______
are part of the mind’s emotional thermostat, regulating moods
while the brain is "off-line." And one leading authority says that
these intensely powerful metal events can be not only harnessed 【M5】______
but actually brought under conscious control, to help us sleep and
feel better.
Most people seem to have more bad dreams early in the
night, progressing toward happier before awakening, suggesting 【M6】______
that they are working through negative feelings that generated 【M7】______
during the day. Because our conscious mind is occupied with
daily life we don’t always think about the emotional significance
of the day’s events — until, as it was, we begin to dream. 【M8】______
At end of the day, there’s probably little reason to pay
attention to our dreams at all unless they keep us from sleeping
or we wake up in panic. Terrorism, economic uncertainties and
general feelings of insecurity have increased people’s anxiety.
Those suffer from persistent nightmares should seek help from a 【M9】______
therapist. For the rest of us, the brain has its ways of working
through bad feelings. Sleep — or rather dream — it and 【M10】______
you’ll feel better in the morning.

选项
答案
which—where
解析
句法错误。如果用which,那么它在这里引导定语从句,替代的是aworld,但把这个中心词带入后面的从句中,我们可以发现logic is suspended and dead peo—ple speak与a world无法构成完整的句子。其实,这里的关系词在从句中作状语,所以改为where。
