Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu sparked controversy by saying that a Palestinian, the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, persuaded Adolf Hitler to exterminate the Jewish people during World War II. Israel’s chief historian on the Holocaust disputed the claim.
