答案 It is known to all that mandarin, which means "common language", is the predominant and standard language throughout the country. Language is the most important tool of communication and information carrier in the historical process of China’ s modernization. Vigorously promoting mandarin is conducive to eliminating language barriers. What’ s more, the wide use of mandarin facilitates the development of our society and makes communications smoother and easier. However, as a country boasting a vast territory and encompassing a large population, China has a large number of dialects. Many people still can’ t speak or understand mandarin. Except for some residents in metropolises, people in most parts of the country still communicate in dialect in their daily life. In addition, dialects are the carrier of family affection in a region, just as the poetry says "I left home when a mere stripling, and returned in old age. While my native accents still remained, my ear-lock had grown thin". Most importantly, dialects are considered as an integral part of the local culture. In order to maintain the diversity and prosperity of Chinese culture, it is necessary to protect the dialects.
