Likewise, the total number of students in college went up drastically from 2. 1 million in 1995 to 7. 2 million in 2005, then soaring to 9 million within a year. It is of no difficulty for me to put forward some advantages that these changes may bring about. First of all, with more and more students receiving higher education, there will be plenty of talent in all walks of life which could contribute to a more powerful nation. According to a recent official report, China has already become a major power in human resources owing to the rapid growth of university enrollment. In addition, with the prevalence of higher education, the whole national quality has been promoted which is beneficial to the development of democracy and harmony. Finally, more and more people have the ability to grasp foreign countries in the right way which will bridge the gap between China and other countries. However, it also poses some challenges. On the one hand, with more and more college graduates entering the job market, the already fierce competition may be even worse. On the other hand, the teaching staff construction cannot catch up with the fast growth of enrollment.
