One may ask why there are battles over celebrity’s hometowns. Basically there are two reasons. The first and most important reason is that once a city is recognized as a celebrity’s hometown, many more tourists will visit this city, thus promoting economic development in this place. The second reason is that being a celebrity’s hometown usually help to raise a city’s nationwide recognition as well as earn this city more financial support. This can also help to accelerate economic development in this city. In my opinion, being recognized as a celebrity’s hometown is certainly nice. However, there are also many other ways to develop cities besides competing for the celebrity’s hometown.
