The【C17】______that his goggles were found in his pocket has led some to suggest that he was on his way down the mountain【C18】______ he fell. Had he been ascending in daylight, he would have been wearing the goggles to【C19】______snow-blindness, and given what is known of the pair’s climbing schedule, if it were【C20】______when they fell, they must have been on their way back down.
