答案Dear Sir, I am writing to you in order to apply for the New Star Scholarship, which I have heard about from the Dean of my department, English Department. As you can see from the attached grade sheet, I am one of the top students in the second year of my department. I have also represented the university at the 8th English Speaking Contest, where I was placed first. It is because I have attained such high standards that the Dean, Prof. Wang, suggested I apply for the scholarship. I believe that I do not only do well in my study, also contribute to campus life and our university in my extra- curricular activities, particularly as departmental head of the Student Union.
