答案 From the data given in the table, we can see that in the past five years, some changes have taken place in people’s diet of X City. The amount of grain which is the main food of the Chinese people has decreased by four percent, while the proportion of milk has increased sharply, reaching from ten percent to nineteen percent. And there has been a gradual increase of meat. Compared with 2002, it has grown by 7%. Only the consumption of fruit and vegetables remain almost unchanged, it has a little increase during this time period. There are some possible reasons for the changes in people’s diet. First, since China has been pushed forward with economic reform and opening up, various kinds of food have become available in the market and stores. Second, due to the improved standard of living, most people could afford to buy more milk, meat and fruit. As the living standard of Chinese people is rising, we look forward to further changes in people’s diet. In the future, the consumption of milk and fruit, and vegetables are expected to go on increasing, but the proportion of meat is likely to decrease more slowly. This is because more and more people hope to keep a balanced diet, which includes proper portions from each of the four basic food groups.
