答案 As is depicted in the drawing above, Food Safety Law, who is like a brave fighter, is trying to cut off the claws of various food safety problems with a sharp sword, since he is the guardian guaranteeing the safety of food—drink, milk powder and vegetables. The cartoon subtly reflects the food safety issues which occur in recent years. Needless to say, food safety concerns about people’s health and basic livelihood. But some producers, in order to maximize their profits, intentionally adopt inferior materials, add toxic substances, excessively use food additives and abuse chemical additives, resulting in toxic bean sprouts, illegal cooking oil and drug-tainted pork, which not only cause serious damage to people’s health, but also cast bad influence on the economic development, food exports and social stability. The above-mentioned scandals, however, are only the tip of the iceberg in terms of poor quality food. In order to turn back this evil trend, it is imperative that government should drastically increase the penalties on those who dare to venture consumers’ health for profits. Moreover, greater supervision from food authorities should be offered to prevent substandard food entering the market. I’m convinced that food safety can be ensured after joint efforts are made.
