Newspapers play a vital role in the diffusion of the latest events and the education of the public. Newspapers are important to us because we can learn a great deal about the world from them. All of us are aware of situations and events that happen thousands of miles away. In the twentieth century, the widespread use of newspaper has greatly intensified the global diffusion of information. For over half a century, newspapers were the chief basis upon which information was conveyed quickly and comprehensively to a mass public. Another advantage of newspapers is that a large number of them are published on a daily basis. This makes them the earliest reporter of the latest events on printed matters. Although the influence of newspapers waned with the rise of radio and television, many people still find reading newspapers at breakfast and on their way to work an enjoyable experience. I believe that newspapers are, and will remain, an important part of our lives for many years to come.
