答案 The chart shows the increase in the number of near-sighted students in a high school class from 2014 to 2016. Among the 50 students in this class, there were 16 who wore eyeglasses in 2014. The next year, however, this number grew to 25, a rather dramatic increase of about 18%. Rising at the same rate, the number of near-sighted students became 34 in 2016. It is hard to imagine how many students are going to be near-sighted in the following years. There are probably two main reasons for this worrying trend. Firstly, Chinese students are constantly under huge pressure to study hard, with little time for activities that are good for their eyesight. Secondly, with the popularity of electronic products, such as smart phones and tablet computers, children and adults alike, are suffering a lot from failing eyesight. To solve this problem, we must improve our education system and evaluate students’ overall performance like personal morality, athletic ability and practical skills. Furthermore, children should be urged to spend less time using electronic products.
