答案 As can be seen from the above chart, some important changes have taken place in the past years with regard to the floating population in City S. The number rocketed from about 20,000 in 1980 to 100,000 in 1990, and to 280,000 in 2000. It tells us that the floating population has surged into cities. It is no difficult job for us to come up with some possible factors that underlie the above trend. In the first place, such a population mainly consists of rural labor. It relieves the land pressure in the countryside. In the second place, floating population began to exert heavy pressure on cities. Wherever it gets together, housing, unemployment and food supply are the headaches that local governments have to tackle. Another serious problem is social security. What’s more, agriculture is losing its best work force; much farming work is done by women, old people or even children. Some farm lands lay uncultivated. As far as I am concerned, I think we should take some actions to put an end to the phenomenon. On the one hand, we should publicize job ads and requirements appropriate for rural labor to prevent blind’ transferring. On the other hand, we should develop agriculture economy and related fields, thus absorbing redundant local labor. Only in this way can we stop the phenomenon.
