The Great Smoky Mountains National Park was celebrating its 75th anniversary in 2009. The park is located in areas of two southeastern states, Tennessee and North Carolina. The Great Smoky Mountains National Park is America’s most visited national park. More than nine million people went there last year. The park has more than 1 000 kilometres of trails. Visitors can camp, fish, ride bicycles or drive through the park. There are more than 1 600 kinds of flowering plants. The Park Service says the park has more kinds of flowering plants than any other national park in North America. It also has animals including deer, elk (麋) and more than 1 500 bears. (30) The Great Smoky Mountains National Park was created by local citizens who wanted to protect the area. But they needed money to buy the land from farmers and other owners. The money came from the legislatures of Tennessee and North Carolina. It also came from individuals and groups including the Laura Spellman Rockefeller Foundation. The official dedication did not take place until 1940, when President Franklin Roosevelt spoke at a ceremony in the park. The ceremony took place at the Rockefeller Monument, on the borderline between the two states that provided the land. Earlier this month, officials rededicated the park at a ceremony held on that same spot. One of the guests was Dolly Parton. The country singer grew up in the Great Smoky Mountains, and wrote a fund-raising CD for the 75th anniversary. (31)We leave you with Dolly Parton and a song called My Mountains, My Home.
29. When was the Great Smoky Mountains National Park built?
30. Why did the local citizens want to create the Great Smoky Mountains National Park?
31. What is the speaker probably going to do next?
选项
A、Introduce more about Dolly Parton.
B、Play a Dolly Parton’s song for the listeners.
C、Talk something about country music.
D、Play a spot announcement.
答案
B
解析
推理判断题。短文最后一部分提到了一位与大雾山国家公园有关的乡村歌手Dolly Parton,讲话者最后说We leave youwith Dolly Parton and a song called MyMountains,My Home,此句字面上意为我们把Dolly Parton和一首My Mountains,My Home留给大家,实际的意思就是接下来请欣赏DollyParton的歌曲。因此,讲话者接下来会为听众播放Dolly Parton的歌曲。
