答案 With the development of computer industry, software piracy has become a serious problem. It has not only done great harm to the information industry but also caused huge loss of profits to many computer companies and software producers. As we all know, Microsoft, the world’s largest software producer, suffers millions of dollars of profit loss every year because its software products are pirated around the world. What is even worse, Microsoft has to invest a huge sum of money and use a great number of high-tech talents each year to develop self-protecting and counter-pirating programs. Since China’s information industry has just taken its start, software piracy, if let go unchecked, will seriously hinder its development and destroy its future. Many newly emerged software producers will go bankruptcy due to lack of fund to prevent and combat piracy. As a result, many talented software developers will lose enthusiasm and confidence in developing new products. Some of them will even apply their talents to counterfeiting others’ products just because this is more profitable. Therefore, if effective measures are not taken to change the situation, soft ware piracy will become rampant and will, in the end, lead to loss of moral standards, and the whole society will be at confusion about what is right and what is wrong. In order to prevent combat and finally rule out software piracy, the governments should take effective measures to protect authentic software products and stipulate specific laws to severely punish pirating behaviors. Computer programmers and software developers should be strict with themselves and never get involved in pirating and counterfeiting business. More importantly, every citizen should refuse to buy and use counterfeited software. Only through everyone’s effort can software piracy be ruled out.
