答案 Those pictures show us with the figures concerned the current situation of tobacco industry and its impact on our society. According to the pie chart, there are 1.1 billion smokers among 5.8 billion people in the world, accounting for almost twenty percent of the global popula-tion. As a result, 200 billion dollars are spent every year on the consumption of tobacco and 3 million people die from smoking. However, the year 1995 witnessed an amazing decrease in the total turnout of tobacco in the world. Compared with 14.364 billion pounds in 1994, there were 14.2 billion pounds in 1995. In my opinion, the consumption of tobacco will decline further. First, with the warning of experts, people become increasingly aware of the harmful impact tobacco may bring on their health, air and economy. Therefore, still more people will give up smoking. In addition, many countries in the world have passed laws to restrain tobacco trade and prohibit public smoking. No wonder there was a drop of consumption in 1995 and a further decline may take place in the near future as long as we keep making efforts.
