The son is at an arm’s distance away from the apple but he has his arms crossed, merely 0-pening his mouth. The father is exhausted and says anxiously "Son, you should stretch out your arms. " The apple in the picture can be considered as a symbol of a happy and comfortable life which parents willingly spare no pains to help their children to get. This picture aims to remind young people that happiness and comfort also require their own commitment and effort. Such a message is significant in today’s society. Nowadays, many Chinese young adults rely heavily on their parents for a good living. ’For example, they need their parents to help find promising jobs or to provide financial support to purchase houses, raise kids or even pay for everyday products such as clothes. These young adults will possibly find it impossible to live comfortably as expected only with the support from their parents. Although Chinese parents are extremely supportive to their kids, the majority of these devoted parents are powerless in the face of the increasingly competitive and financially demanding society. Earning a decent living is our own cause. As young adults, we should not depend entirely on our parents. Instead, we must endeavor to improve ourselves and earn an affluent and happy life on our own.
