答案 School Activities If you go to the campus of a school or university, you will quickly see colorful and variegated announcements here and there in the student area. They give information about school activities organized by clubs and sports teams. Some students stop to read these announcements and they are happy to join some activities, whereas other students show no interest in them and pass by without turning their heads. The first group takes part in these activities actively for various reasons. They think they go to school not merely for book knowledge, but f9r a complete experience. The clubs can provide them with practical knowledge other than what they can learn in the classroom. Next, they can build up their health if they are involved in some sorts of sports. Thirdly, both clubs and sports can offer them some relaxation after several hours of hard work. And the most important is that clubs and sports enable them to meet people, to know people and to work with them. Since school is a microcosm of society, the students should prepare themselves for their future career. The second group spends their time differently. They travel from their dormitory to the dining hall and then from the dining hall to the lecture hall. When the class is over in the morning, they begin their return trip. The same process is repeated in the afternoon for the entire week. They think they should spend every minute in pursuit of academic knowledge. Some of them feel shy to meet people and admit their weakness in public relations. Some hold the idea that sports are too dangerous and time-consuming. They even say, "If you need a break in the course of reading, why not lie in bed for a while? You don’t even have to pay for your sportswear." I prefer to be a student of the first group because students are young people. We like to move; we don’t like to sit all day long. As a matter of fact, the number of students of the second type has been declining.
